Businesses Providing Safe Drinking Water

Target Audience

Small water system operators, such as owners of mobile trailer parks, campgrounds, restaurants, small and rural apartment buildings and gas stations/convenience stores, can be key players in watershed protection efforts. Businesses Providing Safe Drinking Water is an educational program for small business owners who also provide water as a secondary activity. These can be water systems regulated by the Department of Health or other, smaller systems that may provide water to a few employees. Generally, municipal water systems operators have existing training resources, but these materials may be relevant for the smaller municipalities, as well.

The materials provide information about water quality and source water protection. Assessment forms guide the user through an evaluation of their property and in their operations, and provide assistance in developing an action plan to address potential threats to their drinking water supply.
